Official Liberty Post
Ok. So I said I was going to explain in detail a post ago what’s going on with Liberty. So here it is. I have many passions in life. Cooking. Computers. Music. I didn’t really put much thought into how much I loved music until I started playing an instrument. I mean I’ve always loved singing in chorus growing up, learning latin and singing in christmas concerts and such. But, I don’t think it really hit me until this past summer when I got a guitar how much I loved music.
I got a guitar in August of ‘05 and started leading worship for my bible study in October. I really have enjoyed leading worship these past months and started to really consider what I was going to do with my life. As I mentioned previously, I have many passions, but I didn’t really know where to go with them to make a career out of one of them. I sat down and prayed and asked God what exactly it was I was supposed to be doing for my career. I knew I didn’t want to be trapped in a kitchen from previous opportunities along the cooking route. That really only left computers in my eyes until the music thing really started to grow inside me as a passion. I took some classes at Stockton, but it was just too expensive if I wasn’t going to be going full time.
It was around this time that I got the guitar. After leading worship for a bunch of months and praying I started to move forward by looking into college’s that had Worship Leading degree’s. There weren’t that many that I came across that offered specifically a Worship Leading degree. Many of the christian college’s offered music degrees, which is all fine and good, but I wanted specifically a Worship Leading degree. I finally came across Liberty University who offered a Worship Leading degree. So at the end of April, Pastor Craig, George, and I all went down to Lynchburg, VA to check it out. Being on campus and talking to the people I did, both Pastor Craig and I felt a real peace about me going to Liberty.
It was then that I decided to move forward and apply for school in the fall. It has been a rocky road getting in all the paper work that they requested (and I’m still not finished!), but it’s coming along. One thing that I do know is that with the Lord’s will, you just have to have the faith and courage to step out there and move forward. If it’s wrong for you to be doing something, he will shut the doors. The doors seem to be wide open as of now and I feel a real peace about going to school at Liberty.
So, that is the Liberty story so far. I will do my best to keep up to date on my goings on. Not that anybody is reading this. Hah.
