It’s been a long time since I wrote on this thing. There’s been a lot of stuff that’s happened. As you can tell by the title, I’m at Liberty University. Here’s the story. I got a call around December from my admissions counselor. She has called me all through last semester asking me if I was coming to Liberty and I have always told her that if I had the money, I’d be there in a second. Well, this last call we went through the same routine of questions of which I replied my same routine of answers. It went a little something like this: Read the rest of this entry »

It’s amazing the power of ones words. One sentence can cut to the core or take you to the clouds. Of course it’s the way that you say the words as well. Tonight I had an altercation with a gentleman at work. He basically called me a racist unfarely and I had to set him straight. I told him that I wasn’t prejudice (partly true) or racist (true) and it hurt me that he said that. I say partly true as everyone can be prejudice in some way. It’s very hard not to prejudge people in my line of work. Anyway, He said this after I (seemingly) showed favor towards a caucasian gentleman rather than showing favor towards this african-american gentleman. In the end he half-heartedly said he was sorry that he hurt my feelings.

So, I’ve been having problems with Windows recently. When I open “My Computer” it freezes and when killed (since it’s a system program) crashes the system. Also, I have installed programs recently that insisit on associating certain files with itself even though I know I checked for it not to. However, when I changed back the associations the icons didn’t change. This along with Windows booting up slow prompted me to format and reinstall.

So, after much prayer and discussion with other believers whom I value their discernment, I have decided that it would be best to put Liberty on hold for a semester. My father will have money from a job in a couple months to help pay for a semester. I will have more time to get things ready and save some money up. I feel a peace and a weight lifted after making this decision. I will try and keep everyone up to date on what is happening in this situation, but for now Liberty is on hold.

Last night I finally got the nerve to wipe out the YSAM website. I didn’t know how long the site was going to be down, so I did it at night just in case. Drupal has a new version out (4.7.2) so I downloaded that and deleted the old website. I couldn’t quite remember how I installed drupal on the subdomain a while back so I referred to drupal’s handbook on installation. It does NOT help all that much. After searching for a while I actually found an installation manual from my host’s support site (here). It turns out that you have to import the mysql file so that it sets up the tables. After I did that install was a snap. In a week or two I will discuss in detail how to install the latest version of Drupal.

So far everything is set for Liberty except the money. I filled everything out as far as loans and scholarships go. They covered everything except $8,000 or so for the first semester. I thought cool, now I just need to get a student loan, but I needed a co-signer in order to get one.

Somehow I will have to get used to this blogging thing. In a word, I’m “unmotivated”. And this seems to be how it is throughout my life. I definitely will have to change my ways when I go to LU in the fall…or maybe LU will change my ways. In talking to PC, he has said that I will have to be more disciplined when I go to LU. I do have a mixture of fear, excitement, sadness, and anxiety (those are all that I can name off the top of my head). I will type more when I get home tonight.

Ok. So I said I was going to explain in detail a post ago what’s going on with Liberty. So here it is. I have many passions in life. Cooking. Computers. Music. I didn’t really put much thought into how much I loved music until I started playing an instrument. I mean I’ve always loved singing in chorus growing up, learning latin and singing in christmas concerts and such. But, I don’t think it really hit me until this past summer when I got a guitar how much I loved music.

I have talked to my good friend Dave…and he has told me some good advice in the way of blogging. I asked him about what I should do in the case of posting information about my life that might get me in trouble or hurt others if I post it. He suggested posting private blog entries…I know, I know, you all want to read about my life…you still can…just not so deep…if you truly HAVE to read about my life…ask me and I will hook you up with an account that will allow you to read my stuffs…problem solved…thanks Dave!
